French I, Unit 1. I studied Japanese briefly in college but have always had trouble with speaking and hearing it. Pimsleur has helped me understand and practice better, so I'm glad to be able to get it on Audible and take my lessons with me everywhere!
It can seem a little dry at times and is very repetitious, but don't let it deter you. After all, that's how we learn! Okay, you will learn about five sentences of Japanese. They are: Excuse me? Do you understand English? No, I don't understand, Do you understand Japanese?
Yes, a little. Are you American? Yes, I am American. This is NOT a whole lot of information. There are better courses out there.. This unit was very short. Skip this unit and get the whole phase.
I learned how to say do you speak English and yes and no. If I'm going to Japan it's all I need to know. The whole thing is about 45 minutes where 16 minutes is spent telling you the story about the owner and his methods. I don't really care about that.
The actual lesson is only about 30 minutes. It was the beginner level as well and covered a lot more. So I expected more from this digital version for learning Japanese. The conversational way to learn Japanese works very well.
I have enjoyed it. Thank you. I liked the pace. I had no idea I'd be able to understand a short conversation in half an hour. Now I feel really empowered and want to buy the full series. To be fair I'll probably have to spend a few days on each module as I am a slow learner and can't remember things easily. Only thing I don't like is that you can buy the phase 1 units 1 to 30 in one book on audible on the web but it won't show through the app on my phone.
